They Way I'd Go

Suicide

I had a dream today That I would fade away Not for a short while But for the rest of all my days
Ive thought about it a lot So many different ways But what one should i pick? The choices are all in a haze
I could do it old fashioned and hang myself from a tree I could do it new age style And possibly just O.D.
Those aren't the only ways to achieve it I still have some up my sleeve Like one gun and one bullet It's sure to bring me to my knees
Then again poisoning is always an option A little cyanide in my tea Or maybe I could mix a drink One with radiator fluid indeed
Of course there is always self infliction Thats a sure way I can see Although I think that option's out I couldn't bare to just sit and bleed
There is always carbon monoxide That would surely do the trick Come to think of it though It probably wouldn't stick
I could climb upon a bridge and jump Fall straight down to my doom But it would be a bloody mess And no body for a tomb
There is still some more that comes to mind Each and every day Stick around for a little more Please don't go away
Theres the option of vehicular impact I think of that the most Walk out in-front of a semi-truck I'd surely be a ghost
But what about the pesticide option? That would surely work I may end up with that one Smiling with a smirk
I don't believe these would be my ways Although every option seems complete I just can't imagine my kids waking up Finding me dead somewhere on the street
Now the way that I would do it Is much more subtle, I must say It would be a way no one would find me Even if searching all of their days
I would pick a beautiful day When the Sun was blistering hot I'd take a stroll along the beach Caring what people thought i would not
Assuming the water was calm I would start to swim afar I dream I would swim with Dolphins Maybe even see a salt water Gar
I'd keep swimming and swimming as long as i could Every now and then looking back Terrified I would be for sure Of a possible shark attack
By now my arms are tired Im starting to slow down My legs will soon expire And then I'll surely drown
So here lies Dave Asdney At the bottom of the sea I'm never coming back to them Though everyone's on their knees
Praying for my safe return Although they do not know That there is no reason to be concerned This is how I preferred to go

Its strange to hear such a casual and indifferent approach to such a dark topic, but its such a brilliant poem, particularly the 'new age style' line |

eerily familiar...i shudder to realize my early writing rang the same as this...perish the thought and rise...things are never the same as this and never worth so much as a life
