I love you.
Looking back,
Most of my writing
Throughout my career
Has been for you.
I look back over them,
Brought to tears,
Just thinking of you.
I dont know how else to say it,
Baby, I love you.

Nice write.
If it's reality sometimes you're fretting over
nothing but your own emotions and often
the other person has no clue or may not even care.

It can be a one sided road that ends in no good.
Then again :)

I can relate to this poem in many ways. Your words remind me of the song 'Sarah Smile' By Hall and Oates

"If you feel like leaving, you know you can go.
Why don't you stay until tomorrow.
If you want to free, you know
all you've got to do is say so"

Instead of short and sweet I would have to say here
"Short and bittersweet"
Just a few lines, yet the raw emotion fills them.
The poem doesn't linger but the feelings clearly do.
