INTO THE LIGHT OF DAY

Contributed by hray42 on Friday, 18th September 2015 @ 04:02:30 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

i had a dream that spoke of a dream
the latter had been lost to my own ages
but then, as if leafing through a book
it came back to me from within the many pages

appearing only once, as a shy ghost might
it stood before me for a time again
was it now lovesick, looking for someone?
still unsure of how long it had been

arrows aimed true have pierced my heart
too many maybe, have hit their mark
i cannot pull them all from my breast
and now the world appears to be dark

turn back to the ghost who has hidden it's face
that one that is shrouded in mystery
the one that will not whisper it's name
perhaps lost to itself, and to history

i would like to help you indeed dear ghost
offer to you my hand to lead you away
free you from under some lock and key
i shall release you into the light of day...

Paradoxically we become ghosts as our consciences are pierced with arrows. I was thinking about this thought today and your poem has hammered this home.

'arrows aimed true have pierced my heart
too many maybe, have hit their mark
i cannot pull them all from my breast
and now the world appears to be dark

turn back to the ghost who has hidden it's face
that one that is shrouded in mystery
the one that will not whisper it's name
perhaps lost to itself, and to history'

These lines are my favorite in your poem

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
