you held your ruler higher than truth
measuring out the means to an end
these were your lessons, and i your pupil
still all you taught was to condescend
and when i refused the golden apple
that exposed your lies, i believed you
i held your gun to my chest
and obliterated any hope of reason
you shouldn't be the one who kills
i never should have feared you
i believed in a love that was never yours
i pity and forgive you
for your will is broken as you
raise your hammer to the wall
you encase yourself in gilded fear
and taught me how to build my own
but my eyes bleed, i freed myself
through your passages of doubt
believe in me, i can save you
before you drown in a river of ultimatums
it is time to give up the stone
the war's in our heads, not our home
