I.Am.broken

Contributed by Luthien on Monday, 25th January 2016 @ 03:45:04 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

There lies deep inside me an affliction, a venom as wicked and cruel as any blade,
it lies in wait, like a predacious creature, waiting for my psyche to gain in confidence, in happiness, in hope, in determination, and when its prey is truly unguarded does it strike, devouring my will, swallowing the light in my eyes and claiming all foraged hope.

What is left is truly something pitiful and wretched, no longer a man, I become a shadow living in a world of lights, feasting on the very walls of confidence that I had so hard tried to build. Brick by brick, piece by piece, bloodied hands numbed by pain pull the remnants of my mental walls, letting the shadows around me in, my preservation, like a sieve, pools into the abyss, a droplet of light consumed by a sea of darkness.

the redeeming thing about something that is /'/broken/'/, is that it/'/s predicated on the fact that by being broken, it therefore stands to reason it can be fixed.

I have felt as you do now. I hope not to again, but if I do, I DO know that it is temporary and that the /'/fix/'/ lies within me. I am both the creator and healer of my afflictions. SO ARE YOU.

Sounds bad; deviance, drugs, booze, porn....gotta be one of those things. ALL of them are /'/fixable.

Lastly, don/'/t equate your self-worth with your problem. As you write, /'/it/'/ lies in wait. This indicates it is something distinct inside you- given that, you cannot assign a value to you as a whole because of one distinct problem area.

Keep writing it out. It is marvelously medicinal.
