I made a joke at your expense Unaware of the consequence All I/'/ve misconstrued, Exposed my inner nude I/'/ve made mistakes throughout my life Had the audacity to call them strife Now I/'/ve come to learn Just why your resistance was so stern Of all the hearts I/'/ve left behind Yours is the one I still want to have as mine I can see it now, drifting in time/'/s sands All thanks to, these shameful idle hands In hopes to find it I scanned In hopes we/'/d make a mountainous stand May I retrieve it, before I perish in the brine? Or is the thought, but simply asinine?

A very clever twist at the end brings this mini-story to an acrid finish! A touch of spice to a mild menu of self-reproach, and longing reflection!
Just the right contrast to flash in the pan at the finale; like a sweet crepe Suzette, bursting into flame! Eloquent flourish; much enjoyed and unexpected!
Delightful!
