Sky above is filling with darkening clouds Brown grass crinkles beneath each step Cool air thickens as my soul it enshrouds Onward I walk as this date must be kept
I grip tightly the reasons for this trip Ahead a spot that holds great promise Releasing, I watch them fall drip by drip Aware they will force me to be honest
Looking down, surrounded by a black moat Empty balloons filled with lost hope and sorrow Picking one as the others chant a hurtful gloat You can erase yesterday to find a tomorrow
I press it/'/s edge to my lips and exhale a blow Amazed it/'/s black belly begins to slowly inflate Changing to colors as it/'/s skin stretches to grow Each puff of breath decreasing my soul/'/s weight
I blow up each balloon scattered upon the ground Liberating the sealed vessels into a clearing sky Upward their colors dance to my freedom/'/s sound Flitting among the clouds as they wave goodbye
Smiling, twirling along with their glorious prance My heart becoming lighter as my soul finds release Through their flights I/'/m given yet another chance Skyfilled ballons carrying me towards life/'/s peace
