A toast to you

Contributed by softerware on Thursday, 19th May 2016 @ 10:31:48 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

--------------------------------------

Your generation doesnt save;
The things you own until your grave!
You dont repair, you just delete;
For all too soon, its obsolete!

By the time they graduate;
A four year tour at whizbang state;
The first 3 years of stuff they learned;
Will be disproved, or over-turned.

We used to call this game RAT-RACE;
But you run just to keep your place!
All you know is constant change;
Precious little stays the same.

Theres much more history to learn;
And far less time the oil to burn!
Penmanship is off the map;
Spelling, grammar, done by app.

I think perhaps you talk so much;
To be a part and feel in touch.
And selfies are a way to place;
Existence in a faceless space!

You need to know that someone knows;
Where you are and where you go;
What you see and do and eat;
With whom and when, so lifes complete!

OMG! IM HERE! ITS ME!
You may wish to disagree;
But why else do we text and tweet?
And photograph the meals we eat?

Promising an introduction;
Social medias seduction;
Buries in photography;
A million lone biographies.

Lacking boundaries or surrender;
In a raucous whirling blender;
Wondrous lonely generation;
Holding hands in isolation.

Beautiful. My sentiments exactly. Except for this website I prefer to check out of social media. It/'/s a waste of time and for dreamers who find it easier to pretend than to achieve.

I was going to quote a few of your stanzas but they were all so good, what/'/s the point...? This was great Jaye...

James

So poetically wise, as always. The generation before always knows better: in this case we do, but we were responsible, or at least our scientific contemporaries, for the mess. Sometimes I think that science will be the death of mankind, even though it saved my son. There are so many whitethroat/'/s nests out there, just waiting for the eyes of blind children.

James expressed my thoughts to a tee (way to go, James!), so I will spare the redundancy and just add how glad I am to know you and read your contributions.

My very best,

Invierno
