many a posthumous pardon for you my dear
many a posthumous pardon for you
i will not hold it against you yet another year
you will not see my face to turn blue
i forgive you your life, resulting in death
i forgive you for all that you lost
scandalous lies under much borrowed breath
so, the highest price was the cost?
was it the floor that swallowed you up?
opening wide, like a big hungry mouth?
or was it a taste from a poisoned tea cup?
what was it that sent your soul south?
you should have been a bit more careful a lass
paid more attention to the things haunting you
instead, your bare feet found much broken glass
before you left in a hurry, not leaving a clue
so, i do pardon you for your devilish deeds
and the witchery that you have unfurled
i will grant you a pardon, because my heart bleeds
but i cannot speak well for the rest of the world...
