Lament

Contributed by wheels on Sunday, 19th June 2016 @ 09:47:28 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Eight years of celibacy
from friendship
from love
It started as a condemnation to myself
but...

To see beauty in the world
the dew on morning grasses
the clutch of a summer dress
on a lovely lady
a hand held within another.

To hear the sing song melody
of birds dancing in the gardens
the voice of a dear friend
the breath of a dear lover
a whisper.

Oh there is no beauty greater
than that which is shared
to hold just a moment of nearness
a moment of golden warmth
a moment even in sadness.

Alone became a hollow peace
no expectation
to burden ones heart
a path separate from longing
a path lonely... but content.

I never should have tasted
the bittersweet lips
the hope of love
not to perish
but bring forth the bitterness of now.

Oh to drink the warmth of a smile
cast down upon me
or to be cast down
violently upon the rocks
either to release... the reality of now.
