"Like!"
To the young and enlightened my age is a pain, With no understanding, I`m driven insane! Using words out of context again and again! Bombarded I am helpless as I listen in vain.
Like its like this, like if you know like, like you know. It`s so like, unbelievable like, like really, you know! I don`t like, I`m not like, I`ve never liked, I don`t know! Why you like, so many like,"like," unbelievably so!
I sit on the train and the words fill my ears. The lack of expression is enough for tears! The beauty of language is on repeat, No longer flowing just constant bleat!
Harrassing my senses, bending my ears. Beautiful language laid down over years. A tool box of expression, an orators delight, Wiped off the earth and destroyed over night!
Stuck broken records bump, in repetitive groove. Literary travesty, prevails, with nothing to prove. No one reaching, to creation, inspiration,or skies, Just endlessly spewing, a languid painful demise.
Ban this verbosity of screeching, this tinnitus hell! Be kind to my ears, and language I know so well. Swat these gnats buzzing with verbal suppression! Somebody save me, from a language depression!

I can only hope that one day it means that words will have a huge come back and impact. A poetry and word revival..lol...that would like be cool, like, I would like it...a lot. lol..Sorry.:-D Loved this. I thought it flowed smoothly and I found myself half laughing and half sad at how true it is. |

I totally agree with you, language has become so lazy these days. Perhaps texting is somewhat to blame, with all its abbreviations like cul8tr.
When I was at school, the ability to spell and grammaticise (I didn/'/t google that) was prized.
These days perhaps less so.
One of my pet hates is how everyone calls both male and female "guys" wherever you go. "What can I get you guys?", for example.
Well actually, that guy next to me is my wife!!. Grrrrrrrrrr!!

Funny, and sadly true...but there is hope!
All things come full circle, and language will have to return to its clarity when these speakers join the ranks of the workforce and have to make themselves understood.
It is a right of passage and maturity you address; not a long term decay of the language. Be patient!
Meanwhile keep writing! Your biting humor is delightful and your sarcasm has just the right touch of playfulness to sell your message! Like, I like it, you know?
