This one is smiling, That one is sad. Nobody knows of all the trials you/'/ve had.
This one is frowning, That one is a scold. Nobody knows you/'/re actually a warrior and bold.
This one is crying, That one afraid. Nobody knows the price you have paid.
This one is neutral, That one just plain. Not sure which one you should wear today so you can hide the pain?
We all have two faces, One for "them" and one for "you" - The eyes in the mirror reflects the only one that is true!

Dear LadyCC
To true and at the same time sad. People have become so superficial that we have no choice but to put on a mask on, more a self preservation mechanism I/'/d say. You have illustrated so well how this has become a necessity to hide for what ever reason. Beautiful write. God bless love
Greetings

I/'/ve always said everyone has a public face and a private face.
We are expected to act in certain ways in certain situations, though not always the way we want to act. I think society does force us to wear masks, you are totally correct in that.

Your poem begs the question; why do we wear masks?
We must each answer that for ourselves, and the irony of your write is that we see pretense in others, but not in us!!
You poem invites us to look within at what we find unacceptable in ourselves. We don/'/t wear masks for others, we wear them to hide from who we are.
I enjoyed this immensely and hope you keep writing here.
