someones calling on the phone
unless its you, Im not home
the house could burn, and crumble too,
I answer no one, only you.
its been ringing all the day,
but I dont have a word to say
to others I am deaf and blind;
someone else is on my mind.
the handsets blinking in its stand;
I brush it with a wistful hand
the messages, good and true,
but I wont reply, for its not you.
family text, why not call?
they dont understand at all
I just cant afford the time,
If you are on the other line.
the threads are flowing, back and forth,
asking what a friendships worth
bellowing their urgencies,
but I am deaf to all their pleas.
the waiting I can hardly stand,
the mobile humming in my hand
someones trying to get through;
I talk to no one, only you.
leave a message, call past due

I wonder, the the call finally come?

Family, loved ones so persistent;
But your heart is sales resistant!
I love the last line, which ties your message into a gift with a bow!

With so much white noise coming at us every moment, of every day, it amazes me that we haven/'/t gone entirely deaf in self defense!
Thank you for the reminder that we have only not to answer the call!
