//and the oceans take it all, which seems only right, given that they birthed our lives into the broader light//
you passed, not unexpected but too soon all the same; a gust of wind, a puff of air extinguished your bright flame
so we consecrated you in fire, and cried our tears of grief; then gathered up your ashes and said our blessings, brief
and your last great journey brought us, to this crescent shore, to respect your formal wishes for the sea that you adore
and we shall sing the songs of mourning as she takes you to her breast, and blankets you in water for this, your final rest.

//// So beautiful. Such an appropriate thing to do and this superb poem blends right into that.
Thank you and sorry for your loss.
