Christmas Vacation

Contributed by hauntedscorp on Thursday, 22nd December 2016 @ 11:14:14 AM in AEST
Topic: Holiday Poetry

Can/'/t you see
We/'/re on the threshold of Hell
It is a K.O
Please ref; ring the bell
Ding! Ding! Ding!
I feel an unnatural urge
Lumpy and vomitus
A desperate need to purge
Bite my tongue
And teeth I grit
Ding dong! Ding dong!
Fml; this is it
Open the door
Cheek pinching and pokes
Obnoxious, loud,
Who are these strange folks?
Five conversations
All at once competing
My serenity
Hastily retreating
Close my eyes
And draw a deep breath
Silently pray
For merciful death
Open my eyes
And plaster a smile
No end in sight,
They/'/ll be here for awhile
Is it too late
To settle for coal?
Summon the devil
To collect my soul?
I/'/m sober,
This is not fair!
Without imbibing
No one would dare!
Be surrounded
By these blokes any longer
Without subscribing
To something much stronger!
Suddenly the answer
It beckons to me
Can/'/t save this Christmas,
But next year, I/'/m free!
A booming voice
Perhaps straight from God;
Take a vacation-
Figure it out, broad!

Wishing you all the best. Be safe out there, YPDCers!
😱🦂

Except for the last five lines. Positive thoughts. Vacations are cool. 👍

This is awesome. The chaotic eye rolling mood of the holidays is captured in splendid form. Your imagery takes you right there and a big smile is conjured! Great job

I see this from a child/'/s point of view...all the relatives arriving and talking at once, pinching cheeks and poking and prying...while he tries to slap a smile on his face!
Christmas for some is an invasion of their sanctuary by unwelcome relatives en mass!
But spend a Christmas alone in a strange town, when everything is closed, and you would give a month/'/s pay for a relative to pinch your cheek!
Brings back a lot of memories! It is never too late to settle for coal! 4 carats would be sublime!

This is an amazing write, one thing for sure you write great poetry. I like the sentiment, it reminds me of my childhood.
