Delirium

Its not what youd expect
And not what you have bargained for
Those opportunities are not
outside waiting at your front door
What have you been fighting for?
Cant you see the wells gone dry?
Do you even ever stop to ask the question...

WHY do I fight so hard just to escape where Im heading?
WHY do I continue to do the things I know will kill me?
Will someone tell me why?
We keep killing ourselves while were terrified to die

Its so damn difficult
not an easy thing to do
to give up on all of those people
who gave up on you
No one said this would be easy
But this is as hard as it gets
No one remembers the good you did
but the bad no one forgets

WHY do I fight so hard just to escape where Im heading?
WHY do I continue to do the things I know will kill me?
Will someone tell me why?
We keep killing ourselves while were terrified to die

Day after day
its all the same
Try to smile
avoid the pain
Day after day
its all the same
Try to smile
pray for change

WHY do I fight so hard just to escape where Im heading?
WHY do I continue to do the things I know will kill me?
Will someone tell me why?
Were keep killing ourselves while were terrified to die

Good take on the insanity of life,
we will always have questions
that will go unanswered.....

The structure of this poem keeps bringing us back to the beginning, our questions unanswered. It mimics life.
But while your write does not seek answers; it does hope for permission.
You have both. Checkmate.
