we go back to what we know retreating to things of old
ruminating yearning i return
sea to shore dust to dust i say your name in the dark like a wish, a prayer incantation raising the dead once more
sea to shore dust to dust me to you

"i say your name in the dark
like a wish, a prayer"
Those lines gave me a lovely chill in the context of the poem as a whole.
I had to read it a few times to discern what was up, and those lines did it.
Fantastic!

A lovely chant of devining the past to return to us.
Retreating to things of old.
Let us be careful what we ask for. We might get it.
And we gave it up for some reason, did we not?
Your words remind me that the past always looks better from far away.
