Live In The Now

Contributed by invierno on Friday, 26th May 2017 @ 08:27:25 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

There once was a time
when wine tickled me silly;
I peed in the fire,
a backwoods hillbilly.
I stomped where I went,
tore up my new tent,
lost all my friends
being so nilly-willy.
Then I hated myself
for what I had done,
that wine and those fires
I once thought of as fun.
But the years came to me,
though I fought valiantly,
to remain blind in a land
where every one sees.
At last came the day,
I didnt know at the time,
when self-abuse tasted sour;
the juice of a lime.
So I sat down the bottle,
gave up at last,
then along came the day
when I threw out my past.
It was to tedious, to heavy
to lug all around,
my hands wanted to grasp
the new life I had found.
So with a smile at all
my mistakes where I learned,
from stupidities waste,
at least I had earned
the right to get all,
the most out of life,
And I finally saw,
It/'/s so easy, and how!
Let go of the past,
live in the now!

I like the rawness in this
passion
you actually /*****/ in the fire,
I do hope it was outside,
then you said, tore a hole in the tent,
Why do we go out to camp
What are we Am I missing
from life

in this Hillbilly World?
Just cause you are drunk or high
don/'/t make you a Hillbilly
when the question is, what do you
think you own, or do you own
anything, where you live

I suppose.

Peace!

Pat yourself on the back and rejoice.....
You were victorious in your struggle. God has blessed you!
Great poem.

From whence you came; you should be proud.
To go back and sift through the ashes as you have done here, takes courage.
Addiction is seductive. It hold memories of who we were.
I can/'/t look back because I hear the siren calling me.
You are far stronger than you know to have written this compelling remembrance. Perhaps your gift is to write of it so others may follow.

Exactly right, yesterday is experience, tomorrow is a new hope.
Sounds like the fight has been won and there are new possibilities to explore
Enjoy the new self.!!
