Into the fire

Contributed by softerware on Friday, 16th June 2017 @ 10:12:06 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Rushing to love; in all her disguise;
Embracing deception; believing the lies.
Clutching at feelings we cannot deny.

Some will be wiser the longer they wait;
Others embittered when love dares come late.

Blowing the ember that burns in our hand;
Cursing the weakness we dont understand.

Tempted by memories softened by time;
We question the gift-wrap; yet open the wine;
Succumb to illusion, and sign on line.

Coming to terms with a burning desire;
Watching the lonely who dance on the wire;
Consumed by the drama of yesterdays fire.

The last line spoke volumes. So many of us live our lives in the past not seeing what is sitting right in front of us. We try to keep a dying fire going exhausting ourselves and missing opportunities to enrich our own lives and those around us. While watching others who have seized the opportunities we had missed kicking ourselves wishing we had opened our eyes...so the vicious cycle continues knowing that we are the only ones that can stop that cycle and finally change things for the better.

Rich

PS. Sorry for the long comment but this is something that i have been really struggling with myself

energy, the sweet nectar, of now
And of days prior and post -
in the moment, in perpetuity
The rush, the fluidity with which
one is thrown into
And all the decisions, are their
decisions, oh, those things
Well it/'/s not like we didn/'/t need
to expose ourselves to those
via discussion, via argument,
via a good old fashioned rue
to one day get things right

It never is easy the fire
that needs oxygen to ignite

any bliss

Peace!
