They may come for one...

Topic: political

They came one night,
It was dark and lonely.
They came, never knocked on my door!

I never expected,
I had always ignored,
The signs that were given before.

The future was there,
for all to see,
If only we had opened our eyes.

Maybe if I had,
Not turned a blind eye,
I would not be facing my demise.

Cause the first warning sign,
Was made years ago,
When the powers sorted hatred and fear.

Instilling in some,
An old hidden trait,
Where fear could be held so dear.

Our compassion was warned,
Our empathy told,
But we ignored it and said lock them up.

Or better yet still,
Send them all back,
Cause our countrys great, not /*****/.

Dehumaning its easy,
Because of fear instilled,
The Powers just made them a number.

So many ignored,
Or even supported,
when the laws should have made us wonder.

And now years later,
our world is gone,
The world we knew from the past.

Our compassion is dying.
Our values erode.
As our leaders play out this farce.

Lets hope that this era,
this time we now live,
Does not lead to the end of our life.

Because if they come for one,
eventually its all,
and our lives will be the sacrifice.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
