The Great Debate Part Two

Contributed by The_Phantom on Thursday, 6th July 2017 @ 04:36:52 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

The Last we spoke I felt I was very clear, we the people should not live in fear,
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself, that speaks volumes but if you believe that... your high on valium,
Correct me if Im wrong, but our last conversion you mentioned...generations?"
Indeed I did, the future of mankind begins in our time,
Our actions will lay the ground work, our todays will be written in their history books,

" Books? Heres a fact, a number of books have lead to violent attacks"
I disagree, the interpretation of the reader isnt always the message of the author,
Words themselves dont cause violence, its how the message is received that fuels it,
" The Bible, Quran, Mein Kampf and Sharia Law,
These books have accounted for many deaths... how soon we forget,"

The action of the few have ruin nations that believe in peaceful demonstration,
" So Ferguson, Baltimore and the LA riots were not demonstrations but acts of defiance?
Their actions went against the nature of protest, just senseless violence that hurt the innocent,"
Their actions disrespected the memory of Dr. King, Rosa Parks and Susan B. Anthony,
They believed in a cause, worked within the law, the others with malicious intend... engaged in conflict,

" Burning crosses to burning churches, violence has always been the voice of the voiceless,"
We have a voice, its called Freedom of Speech, the more we say, the more people are reached,
The deadliest weapon is not a gun, the deadliest weapon is that of the tongue,
" I can burn the American flag cause thats accepted, under the Freedom of Speech thats protected,
I cant burn the Rainbow flag cause thats a felony, that makes as much sense as giving myself a vasectomy!"

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
