When I say I am a rape survivor

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not looking for your sympathy
I am telling you my forced label

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not saying it is all men
I am saying it was all men I knew

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not looking for the blame game situation
I am stating blame the men who did it

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not looking for your pity
I am stating look at what society did to me

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not looking for your opinions
I am stating rape culture is real

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not looking for your judgements
I am saying have some compassion

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am saying I did not survive the same way others did
I am saying I have my own individual story

When I say I am a rape survivor
I am not stating that I am weak
I am stating that I survived

Very strong piece youve written here. I commend you for putting yourself out there like you have. I like how you consider yourself a survivor and not a victim..which you are both but you consider yourself a survivor over a victim..I live by the saying that "What doesnt kill you makes you stronger". And you are a very strong woman. Great piece and I look forward to reading more of your work. Thank You So Very Much For Sharing.

if you mean, have I ever felt as though
I was boxed into a corner, and I know
that is not the same thing as being
physically raped, but I have been put
upon physically beaten down by
someone I thought I should have been
able to trust.
Do I feel consciously ashamed by
a female who has been raped
like an object, which pretty much
comes down to being abused,

Yeah, yes. I do. Had nothing at all
to do with you. It was not your fault
And I do think that too many people
women and men, especially men
of any age, pass it off

I know big men who have been
lost their will because they were
physically beaten down

I was raised by four sisters
and a good mom
maybe, I hope, you have
something like that,
are centered and strong
enough to more than just survive
your fight is right
and if you ever raise a young
man or ever have the chance to
to teach one, or a young women
well, someday
I am quite sure you will
do a tremendous good

I do not think it is only about surviving
rape
I myself never surrendered
I fighter too.

because I can!

anyway, compassion is
the whole enchilada
right from the start,
always was.

stay strong, and
help to educate us all

sb

Peace!
