WHERE DID I COME FROM

Contributed by Redwest802 on Thursday, 2nd November 2017 @ 11:41:19 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Where did I come from, I wonder in my brain?
Did I land here as a speck of dust ,
Or maybe a drop of rain,
Falling fast to earth, Quenching sun-drenched plains.
I have no idea but I know forever I know, I will remain.

I marched across the savannah high,
Trudged through Siberian snows.
Sweltered in Saharan heat,
Saw flood, as the Nile rose.

I/'/ve seen so many battles,
To many large and small.
I was there with Napoleon Bonaparte,
When he fought in all his wars.

I was on the western front as well,
With my Digger mates we fort.
I saw a flag on Iwo Jima Hill,
I witnessed Saddam/'/s downfall.

I flew with Orville and Wilbur Wright,
Kitty Hawks first flight, the goal.
I braved freezing ice, snow and winds,
With Doug Mawson at the pole.

I walk with a friend, upon the Moon,
Neil Armstrong by my side,
I dove down to the deepest depths,
With Jacques Cousteau, my guide.

I have been and gone, but did you know,
My existence is steel, I will not bow.
I am stronger then all, guns, knifes, swords,
They have tried to destroy me, but I am the lord.

A lord you all know, a lord with a friend,
My powerful, stronger friend, a friend who is a PEN.
For I am a poem, I have witnessed it all
I saw blood, death and honour, I saw great men fall.

I saw history made,
Through the pen and through the sword.
And you can read what I witnessed,
In any poem at all.

Reminds me that as a race of people we have done some pretty amazing things.
The irony is too, that as a race of people we will probably eventually destroy ourselves.
Nice write, very vivid
