Time to Retire

Contributed by softerware on Saturday, 25th November 2017 @ 02:14:31 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

What shall I do when nobody needs me?
Nobody listens, nobody heeds me?

With no one to rally, and no one to praise?
Out in my pasture, left here to graze.

No battles to fight; no goals to achieve;
What will I do when its time that I leave?

When I am gone my desk will be foraged,
My projects boxed up and taken to storage.

Others will come in place of myself;
All that I was will be left on a shelf.

Do what you can, while you can, lest you rust;
Those who cannot are gathering dust.

Goodness! Heart wrenching in its rawness. Deep thoughts in such lovely rhymes.

We are nothing more than hermit crabs.
When we are gone, someone else takes our shell and the saga continues.
Great write and flow, ya know?

we are all just cogs in the machine
we will be replaced
but
while we are still here
as you say we do what we can....

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
