Presents of mind..

Christmas makes us kids again;
Taking us to way back when;
Dreams came true as all dreams should,
And all we had to be was good!

Im good all year and still I get;
Gifts that I dont need and yet;
When budgets call for small amounts;
They tell me its the thought that counts!

Oh, the wide and daunting gap;
Betwixt the wish, and whats unwrapped!
I hint and show and leave a list;
But every year the targets missed!

So, Santa while you plan your flight;
Ive come to pack your sack tonight!
How much would you say this weighs?
No wonder that your hairs turned gray!

Leave behind this heavy stuff;
Rudolf has to pull enough!
Unpack the coal, its such as waste!
Diamonds take up much less space!

And candy canes break easily;
Lets opt for caviar and brie!
Youve no need to make two trips;
Dont you know that Fed-Ex ships?

By the time that you come back;
Ill have all this stuff repacked!

Youll have more time left to yourself;
With me to be your Christmas elf!
And every year I guarantee;
A happy, merry, jolly me!

A very adorable and joyful write.
If only the whole world could be at peace a day let alone a year. A very charming piece!

What a joyful reminder of who we are- that kid in us from way back when. We never did get what we wanted did we?
My mom still asks me what I want for christmas, and I always say the same things- the ones I could always use more of and never think to get. Underwear, socks, and undershirts. My thankfulness comes from having family, because I didn/'/t realize until after I didn/'/t live with them and didn/'/t have to be around them when I didn/'/t want to, that I actually do want to be around them sometimes.

"betwixt the wish, and what/'/s unwrapped"

Something about that line, maybe the uncommon word of "betwixt" or the idea of comparing a physical object with an idea and placing them almost on a map together is a really cool idea :)

Nicely done Jaye :)

So when at first I first met the plant lady
my mind was transfixed,
just how did she know all these scientifically
named plants that grew all over in places
around the globe with names I had never
learned.
Abelia from Asia
Cichorium, the true endive, the sunflower, native from Europe.
On and on rich with words I had never before heard.
I listen, as I always have, without writing anything
down. No I am not good at taking notes.
I hear words, not like a savant, but then I get enticed
Yes, I change shape, with words, and to me
she was a true poet, so I bought and planted
several of these plants and watched them grow
in my own backyard.
Sometimes you just want to know how.
Like when you was just a kid.
With a presents of mind you worked
to remember and went back again to learn
about Campanula, the flowering little bell
found in the mountains in Africa, not to mention
all the conifers, I like most the Larch with its soft
gentle needle, which might hail from Northern Siberia.
Oh, I just do not know, so I go back and buy
more from the plant lady who insists I should lay down ordinary cardboard just under the soil to suffocate the stray weed, and by the way she says, it makes a great
mulch. It makes a good mulch, like presents of mind.

Peace!

I meant to add to that story about mulch,
the truth about mulch, the truth about presents of mind,
nobody knows how the story ends.So I think that/'/s why you should never stop working your mind, the best present
anybody will ever get. Merry Xmas SW!
Peace!
