Let me take you on a journey far from your comfortable armchair and cozy fire to a place that many don/'/t know about at least i didn/'/t until i saw it myself
A place where the streets are littered with trash and human feces and tents line the sidewalks A place where the insane defecate in public and drug dealers swarm like locusts devouring all hope of green life A place where the homeless are outnumbered only by the rats that feed on their waste A place known, in downtown Los Angeles as Skid Row
Imagine if one of these tents were your own and you went to sleep every night to the sounds of
Stomping
Screaming
Gunshots
Screaming
Sirens
Screaming
Drugs and violence a part of your everyday atmosphere an everyday reality for countless people
And in the midst of this violence and chaos are many men and women braving the urban third world armed with nothing more than bibles and sack lunches hoping only that their small effort will make a difference to somebody
And as i see this I think of what it truly means to be a hero
