I am in awe of those Who have four paws They are your best friend When you are on the mend If you are scared They are there to defend Their voices are seldom heard But to me that is preferred A true friend indeed When you are in need

I love this. Can you hear the sound of a million paws applauding?
If you want to find out who loves you unconditionally, put your wife, your kids and your dog into the trunk. Come back an hour later and open the trunk --- and you/'/ll see who is happiest to greet you.

Me too...
I have a long history with dogs. I/'/m sorry, I worked in research where we utilized dogs for medical science.
At the time, I was chiefly interested in helping good scientist
find ways to understand disease. And yet, at the time the worst sin I found, was keeping dogs, any dog, locked up in a cage.
Once in the Michigan winter, when I was a young man, the research units heating system went out. I was alone so I took ten or twelve dogs who were part of a long term mesothelioma experiment, out of their cages to the cage wash area where it was somewhat warm.
Accidentally, I opened up the back door and the dogs all rushed out. We had named them all and they knew me well. They were all really cool dogs.
Anyway, I rushed after them, calling them by name to stop. And they all did. They all came back.
I called the facility people who fixed the influx shutters that was sending in all the minus zero air into the furnace shutting it off.
Sadly I led the fateful dogs back into their cages.
I should say, none of the dogs were harmed in any terrible way other than being caged.
We had injected aspestos into each of their plural cavities hoping it would create mesothelioma, yet it never did.
I took one of the dogs home with me a few years later.
She was a golden lab, her name was Loomis. I had named her of a small town I had visited in Northern California.
So anyway, I learned about science when I was a young man, incidentally, mostly by mistake.
The dog in me was always always there.
And I do not know why that was important to say,
this bit about me. But I remember all their other names
as well. I always thought about writing a book about them.It would have to be a novel in that it would encompass more than most know about compassion
and true dignity, but that/'/s not exactly true.So maybe someday I will.
Peace! |
