Indigo Nights

Contributed by FireStarter on Wednesday, 17th January 2018 @ 06:39:54 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

These indigo nights dont feel the same
For you left my side and walked away
The stars dont shine as they once had
These indigo nights never felt so sad
The moon used to light up my world
Let everyone know that I was your girl
Then the sky grew wearily dark,
Just like my bleeding, dried up heart
The indigo nights are no more
For the stars dont shine anymore
They went away with the whisper of the wind
Until the light comes back my heart wont mend.

very to the point, I like the write, mostly this last line"
/'/Until the light comes back my heart wont mend. /'/
doesn`t shut the heart off after the loss..but... until the light comes back, is healthy and hopeful...like that.

This made me think of Oliver Sacks who was
known not only as a famed neurologist, but also as
someone who as a young physician became fascinated with LSD.
Modern science places the color indigo somewhere in the electromagnetic scale between 420 and 450 nanometer.
The problem is this, the normal eye cannot differentiate
this part of the spectrum, so as far as Sacks knew,
it was highly unlikely that he ever saw it when on LSD
he was almost certain that he had.

The great painter Giotto heaven in indigo, he worked with a number of powders but never found the right formula.

Oliver thought that true indigo was the unicorn of colors, owing it to the fact that heaven was not possible to be seen here on Earth.

But still he struggled to see it. And on LSD, like miracle there it stood, but only in a brief second.
He never did see it again.

When you discover a profound change that at once
and in a most compelling way felt close to heaven,
and find that it is never again to be seen, you have to go back, but even if you try, it will never ever seem
true. Perhaps it never was.

Sacks still knows that the color indigo does exist, yet he also knows not to the naked eye.
The question is why did Giotto try to paint it in his picturing of heaven?

Giotto Di Bondone better known as Giotto started painting in 1337. He was indoctrinated by myth, and there were a myriad of scene paintings he undertook.
Indigofera tinctoria was one of the original sources of indigo dye.

The breakup the breaking in. The first time I knew of love of an individual kind for a female, and later after the breakup, tore me down. It changed me.
But later, it fixed me. It made me see what
a fool was I.
Peace!
