Wasn't needed

Contributed by PreciousKitten on Friday, 2nd February 2018 @ 03:30:51 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

as her spirit looked over her former body
the words that were craved into her mind

she wasn/'/t needed

since her final hour began closing in
she wanted to fight it
but then remembered

"i wasn/'/t needed"

once the reaper came to her
she thought about pleading with him
but still couldn/'/t help but reminding herself

"i wasn/'/t needed"

as the coffin was placed
ever so gently in the ground
the former love sat along the sidelines with the mourning family
and thought to himself

" how could this have happened?"

then a whisper in the wind came to him
to answer his foolish question

" don/'/t you remember.....you said, she wasn/'/t needed."

once he heard that
he began to cry
as the spirit of the girl looks at him
from afar
he looks up and cries even harder
he mouthed the words
" i am sorry"

she held up a sign
with words
which were the same ones
that he spoke to her
the sames ones that will forever
haunt him
the last thing she said to the him
before the reaper escorted her to the other side
without looking back

"you didn/'/t need me"

I had several thoughts about this but in the end it gave me pause......

I guess you shouldn/'/t insist on being needed in this life as it will bring you much sorrow and pain.
I/'/m sure it was not meant that way, however. I was never a fan of the emotionally needy...

But it did get me thinking and that makes it a great write.

so in words, some are gifted, and
Quick, they remember things,
every word,
ever said.
but words are not measurement tools
poetry is not, but maybe
it might need to be rethought
And then there is a condition
where you couldn/'/t breathe
And you found yourself grasping
for air, in a deep dark depression
no words knew anything about

you needed her
And not because you wanted her
mood,
you needed her
And not because she just was

So you do not know
this, how to describe
Anything good you
feel somehow you might
lose someday

And you cannot describe
beautiful or normal
nor intelligent
nor even abnormal

you only go for a walk
and hold someones hand
And you know you are
Sorry, just the same.

Peace!

We all long to be needed; but your character takes it to the extreme. The lesson of your tragedy tells us that to be needed, we must make ourselves necessary; and no one can do that for us.

Well said in a rambling little story of surrender. Most of all, a reminder to those who look to others for validation; we don/'/t need permission to live.
