The Lie of Two SIdes

Contributed by WellEyeDo on Sunday, 25th February 2018 @ 09:56:05 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Strangers walking the streets like orphans
Searching for a place to fit in
Where they feel as if they/'/re more than just a ghost
Transparent spectators that always observes
Moving unnoticed, like shadows in the back of a dark room

Yet here we stand, Praised in compassion
So vocal, Ready to speak up
But back down when it/'/s time to take action
The trend of bleeding hearts
Only have a voice for the attention its grants them

Compromise stands on such a thin line
how can we heal a world
plotted in two sides, unbridgeable divide
These fake voices of reason, Only strengthen tension
There comes a point when we can no longer listen

So tell me what are you going to define your life by
An indecision, letting someone else make up your mind
Maybe growth comes in understanding
There/'/s been fault on both sides of the line
It/'/s to complex to define it all in black and white

Maybe if we took the time to show a little passion
Stop acting as if we need reasons
to reach out our hands in compassion
If we could only learn the strength in differences
We would see it/'/s all equal in comparison

Where are our dencencies, when we/'/re scared and afraid
Pushed far beyond reason, confused as to why
Selling our morals to take up a side
Never given choice, just taught how to think
Then reality hits, and everyones wrong

I hear you my friend, and see what your saying
Can we sit together and find a solution
We can lay down our arms and surrender the night
Bring into question the reasons we fight
A single conversation that can mend the divide

I/'/m surprised more people haven/'/t picked up on this one.
I read it and I felt like I was listening to the teaching of a wise old sage.
You packed a lot in and have really given it some thought.
Glad to say I appreciated the effort you have gone to

Steve

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
