3 Lb. Thread

Contributed by invierno on Saturday, 3rd March 2018 @ 11:45:33 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Discovering I was a mannequin shredded
ingrained Prime Directives,
exposing truths as fruit eaten only by eyes
relaxing focus,
swimming beyond mans arranged atoms,
where walls disappear,
where air stills for the stare,
where curtains quit breathing.

I should have been stitched
with 3 Lb. thread,
but the makers fiber met their need;
alas, I was built to unravel,
to last only so long,
and I did,
but my eyes, once opened to my life unused,
left cheap thread, there alone, ironically strong.

Funny and sad but so true. I always overdid things to an obsessive degree but as time goes by I figure I/'/ll never need that kind of quality now. Why pay for a 50 year roof when I have a max of 20 left plus my wallet is thinner these days too. Well done and I liked how you defined it all.

Reality sucks sometimes.

We should be made of 20 lb test, but as you say, we are built to be obsolete.
The will to live is incredibly stubborn, far outlasting our ability to thrive.
I like the analogy of thread to weave a tapestry of life, and the journey to where CURTAINS QUIT BREATHING.

Have to echo the sentiments of those who have already sung your praises here.
Great write,
We aren/'/t built to last that/'/s true, but we are a determined bunch!!

Great closing lines on an altogether well stitched piece :)
Wonderful wordplay, this was an enjoyable read. Bravo!
