I let night swallow me whole, giving myself entirely to the void; a strange solace in the waning of my soul, leaving me beneath the absent glow of a new moon, blind to it/'/s waxing light; the colors of the lonesome night lost to my eyes eclipsed as the voices whisper through the movement of my lips words without meaning, while apathy resigns me to idle daydreaming.

Your write describes anesthesia perfectly, although it isn/'/t about that. Daydreaming is healthy and rejuvenating. Almost as beneficial as sleep!
I like the comparison of drifting off to the waning of the moon. Your poem casts a lovely glow as well!
Why am I sleepy?
