What Becomes Us

Contributed by Buggsy on Wednesday, 21st March 2018 @ 05:38:06 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

With each and every breath that we take,
Our life and humanity continue to slip away.
Conscience and morality hold no sway;
Orders and commands are all we make.

Our world reeks of many a forgotten lover,
And the discarded husks of happy souls!
Slowly everyone turns into mindless trolls;
When our personal war starts we duck and cover.

Everything that we ever cared about is gone,
What is the point of fighting any more?
When there is nothing left worth fighting for;
There is no way back so why should we mourn.

We let everything that made us human die;
Never thinking of the consequences of hate!
Never will we realise until it is always too late.
Now as crazed demons of our own design we can cry!

"crazed demons of our own design". that/'/s a great line showing personal responsibility instead of blaming the next guy. We are what we wanna be, I guess. Your poem is described as a dark one and you/'/re only holding a mirror to how things are, wow, a good warning.
