Wings of blackened thread
Flanks the ravens weary head,
To soar the sea of night/'/s allure
Without the gale of day/'/s demure.
His flight will cast a spell
On souls asleep inside their shell,
Fantastic terrors play the night along,
And sing their dirge of bleak December song.
The purple curtains hide the crying moon,
That once sang down a placid tune,
A tapping on the rusty chamber door
Echoes through the halls of ancient lore.
The raven/'/s flight slips past the gleam of dawn
And stays inside the night to dream along.

Splendid! Good for you!
When Poe is on the brain it/'/s easier to write him out than deny him!
THE UNCERTAIN RUSTLING OF EACH PURPLE CURTAIN was one of my favorite lines, picturing heavy velvet drapes in a musty library with books to the ceiling.
It is a melancholy evening at YPDC.

I as well enjoyed this and the third stanza. I/'/m well aware of EAP. But never was a study of poetry but this stands on its own merit..... |

Ah, yes. Mr. Poe certainly has that effect.
Nicely done.
