How can we know where we are with no signposts to guide us? Racecar drivers can/'/t tell how fast they are going because the scenery is a smear.
Your poem sounds like the short list of a good nightmare. A Halloween dream.
Sometimes writing them out takes their power away.

| This reminded me of the movie, The Omega Man, with Charlton Heston. This allows us to imagine what we would do in that setting. An inviting poem. |
