Met a wrinkled little star; Past her prime, poor dear by far. Without make up, without lights; Waiting for a delayed flight.
Standing there all by herself; Looked like anybody else. How confusing it must be; From fame into obscurity.
No one looked as they walked by her. Didnt seem to recognize her.
I excused myself and asked; Whether she gave autographs. While she signed I told her of; All her movies that I loved.
Her flight was called; she had to go. Looking back she stopped to blow A goodby kiss and called outloud; Then disappeared into the crowd.
Doesnt matter what she lacked; Id had a chance to pay her back. Out the window of my flight; Into the black and moonless night;
A tiny star shone all alone; Perhaps to see her safely home.

We all fade in due time but even so we still shine bright while waiting for flight.... Great write. |

Well, who was she?
You obviously have a knack for framing a good story in poetic rhythm don/'/t you.
Some make me laugh, some grab the core of my soul. |

beauty
broke, the actress
I really never know
In the shadow of something
real, to finally look upon
Something perfect in a squalid
apartment, all the troubles
and turmoils, but there you
look, some kind of distance,
this artful dance
This group of actors once
someone filmed it, but it was
real, so she posed
perhaps this is precisely what appeared
on the screen
And you would know it
because it meant the world,
knowing, perhaps with a twisted
smile, yes I can easily suspend
all my beliefs
And escape.
I met Eleanor Boardman once
and she was still beautiful
back in the late seventies.
She was so surprised I knew who she was.
I love silent films, "that/'/s all they had once back then, and so did
I/'/, she said.
Peace!

Even the greatest stars diminish in time - celluloid captivates an age and place in a way that the real world can never.
Just visited a Cartier exhibition in our Nation/'/s Capitol where images and film of celebrities in their prime were prominent - many of them are dust and bones now, others living on in ruckled twilights like your subject.
Your post holds lovely recollections that even waning lives have bright notes.
