Dreams to Demons

Topic: DarkPoetry

Choose your thoughts carefully tonight!
Your demons await your invite!
An innocent dream becomes more than it seems;
Though you fight it with all of your might.

Those shadows that cling to our ceiling;
Embrace all the fears were concealing.
We wont see them hover; or crawl neath the covers;
But freeze with the terror were feeling.

Inhaling the stench of their breath;
Is the fragrance of centuries of death.
They come from the wombs of thousands of tombs;
To feed on our endless regrets.

You hear and you feel them surround you.
Close your eyes and lie still; they have found you!
Icy wet fingers descend and they linger;
The dark will close in all around you.

Say your prayers and follow the light;
Each night with the crossroads in sight.
Lest in your bed all they find is your head;
When the devil has left for the night.

Very dark and scary but very true to many that have regrets or have suffered loss. Words of wisdom intertwine with the dark here. Great write!

You remind us we are in control of what our thoughts invite. You are skilled on writing about any subject, I admire that.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
