Editing Reality

Reality TV? I dont think so.
Take out the parts we would rather not know!

Movies and games show shootings and gore
But TV news shields us from all that and more.
Car crashes, stabbings, and death dont seam real;
Upsetting our dinner, unless its concealed.

They show half the story but leave the truth out.
Hoping our children wont have to find out.
Then we wonder why kids think that shootings pretending;
When we have so carefully hidden the ending.

Perhaps if we saw what the newcasters see;
Bleeding, unedited, real life TV;
Showing the truth of what mayhem was done;
Fewer might walk into school with a gun.

That/'/s the naked truth, right between the eyes.
A good reminder of the real reality.

a twelve year old is killed
by police, he/'/s playing with
a toy gun alone in the park,
the police hide behind their
vehicle, nobody is around,
just this kid alone playing
in the park and they
shoot him.
Trump goes before the NRA
and says that in the UK where
they have no guns they kill
people with knives.

Smart kids from a rich neighborhood
have their high school turned into
a killing zone by some estranged
young man with an assault weapon
and they say that/'/s wrong and must
stop.
Bullets fly daily in some parts
of Chicago where babies are killed
in the cross fire of gangsters

I worked at a county hospital where
near Detroit, the emergency was
always always filled with indigent
folks who had no health insurance

It was the best hospital to learn about
emergency surgery because it was
sometimes like a war zone.

Young kids shot many times could
sometimes make it out of the emergency
ward after several surgeries
A young kid maybe thirteen or fourteen
finding out what it was like to take multiple
bullets and still miraculously live

And I guess that/'/s a lot different
world then many other kids
lives are like

And I took my daughter to Cal Tech
because that/'/s where she at fifteen
would like to study

And we stayed in a hotel and watched
the LA local news where people
waited in line to receive free
dental care, because they could
not afford it on their own.

A young kid was so worried sitting
in the chair, he was wincing just thinking
about how painful it would be to fix
a simple cavity.
But it did not even hurt. He was so
thankful he cried, and he was maybe
eight years old.

Anyway... a lot of things happen, I know
I do.

Peace!

And hopefully even fewer will walk out of school holding any kind of weapon. A reality write and exactly right too!
