DIAGNOSIS: Love

Love is an addiction. It gives us what we crave. Obscuring fact from fiction; seduction that enslaves! Our table groans with gifts love owns, in visible profusion; The banquet ends, yet we pretend -- starved for our illusion.
Friends move on when love has gone; Its victims court the past. Sifting though the garbage to keep what cannot last.
Denial to discoverys a long and painful mending. To lift the slave out of their grave, without a happy ending.
Love is an affliction; which none of us escape. Having learned that loves return is worth the heart it rapes.

Your ending is as potent as love.
You/'/re tackling a subject that is the most difficult of all topics to take on.
Most might just take an easier route and write on a prognosis, i think you gave an accurate diagnosis.

I guess love is a chemical in
the brain, lots of chemical
in the brain, and all life
swirls past and
into this thin
membrane that
contains an impenetrable
device for years and years
all the greatest minds
of history have tried
and tried to better
understand
call it a cup of coffee
at starbucks
call it the poorest of
the poorest mothers
laying down everything
they have to save
their children
call it the satisfaction
you feel if you have
some and that is
enough to make you
feel good
a cup of java mixed
with a sliver of oxytocin
only found in the breathable
air
I surely do not know
and only wish I had
more
Peace!

Excellent write. The second stanza hits hard.
Often when love leaves you it can also take away your identity. |
