DOWN THE HATCH

Topic: Lifepoems

Everyone eats more these days, but fewer of us cook!
Fast food is a way of life; lets take a second look!

Ordering wasabi doesnt mean thats what were getting:
Most substitute horseradish, and we cant tell Im betting.
Its cheaper by a whole lot, and dyed to look convincing;
Ask the server what they use; and stand by for some wincing.

Theres nothing like a pizza, with toppings if you will;
But ripe green peas sell more than cheese on pizza in Brazil.

Tea bags were first intended to carry sample teas:
Until somebody dunked one, and the rest is history.

Cranberries arent picked by hand; instead they plant them deep;
They flood the trench with water when its time for them to reap.
The ripe ones pop up to the top; (someone learned they float!)
To bring them in, they simply skim, and then replant the moat.

Jelly beans and Skittles are coated with shellac;
Made from boiled beetles adding luster that they lack.
Fruit flavored snacks are chewy by addition of carnuba:
The stuff we use to wax our cars (a little dab will do ya!).

If someone says we masticate just agree we do!
Although it sounds suspicious, it just means that we chew.

Fast food popularity has many unseen perks;
For instance, pizza lovers keep our dairies hard at work!
It takes 170 thousand cows to work full gear;
To make 3 million pounds of cheese for Pizza Hut each year.

The first food eaten on the moon by astronauts who landed;
Were hot dogs, cause they could be eaten by them single-handed!

Black olives and green olives are not two different kinds;
The green ones just turn black because they leave them in the brine.

McDonalds is the largest toy distributer in the world;
Because of all the Happy Meals they sell to boys and girls.

Dave Thomas worked for KFC but sold his stock to get;
A franchise of his own he named after his favorite.
Never cut a corner! was his lifes philosophy;
Thats why Wendys hamburgers are square not round, you see.

IHOPS famous for their extra fluffy omelet platters;
(To make eggs fluff the secret stuff they add is pancake batter).

75 McDonalds burgers sell each second, wow!
Each can contain combined remains from 100 different cows.

It doesnt pay to know too much about the stuff we eat;
Pity folks in fast food who KNOW whats in our treats!

The litmus test of food thats best, is never to ignore;
Whether workers eat in-house, or opt for lunch next door!

I/'/m trying to decipher how this relates to Orrin Hatch :)
Seriously great if somewhat disgusting.
A beautifully crafted poem indeed. I/'/m afraid you/'/re working too hard!
