Our memorys a magician; She edits history; Shes polishes traditions; And sweetens what we see.
The stories from those good old days; Improve each time theyre told; Cause every day she finds a way; To spin tin foil to gold.
I used to pine for yesteryear; A time that seemed so grand; Now that I know better; Im happier where I am!

Great poem and flow as your usual.
I agree with one caveat. Yesteryear looks promising if you lose a loved one or age has brought you poor health. But the future is worth the anticipation usually-hopefully. |

Dear Soft
How nice to read you again. Such a touching poem with words of wisdom from someone who has live openly and freely.
There is so much more to this poem than meets the eye. It makes me think of the less fortunate that don/'/t have a roof over their head or food in their belly, or loving arms to comfort them. We are so privileged right here and now yet we long for days gone by because we think we had it good then not seeing the good we have right here and now.
I too am happy where I am and for what I have. Thank you for the reminder that we should be grateful for what e have.
God Bless
Greetings

She? I thought blokes were the best Spin Doctors, but I share your sentiment on the rose-tinting of some recollections and the demonising of others. Editing is a survival strategy, depending on whether the Head is remembering or the Gut is reacting. Either way, the /'/true/'/ reality is gone in the moment and remembered differently. |
