I sat in the light hard chair Waiting with a cigarette and the paper Absent mindedly watching the planes When a bird flew into my world
At first I was transfixed Unable to tear my eyes away But then I thought what the hell Im only here for three hours
Outwardly cool, inwardly terrified I made way over, via the sweet shop Breath mints never a bad choice Especially after airline food
I sat next to her My palms sweating Like a first time TV presenter And presented myself
Her name was Lana She too was a Londoner Bored with the city She left to see a new world
As we chatted we relaxed I stopped sweating And even got so bold as to Offer her a drink
We sat in corner Of a smoky bar Drinking cheap wine Diving into each other
Only two hours left
She looked at me In a way Id only seen A few times before All I could do was return it
She lent over to me Past the drugs of the house And pulling me to her We kissed
She grabbed me And dragged me out of the bar Out of the airport Into a hotel
What happened there You can only guess Only we can know But the passion
Half an hour left
We dressed Made the bed Ran from the hotel God knows whos room it was
Back in the airport She takes me to my gate She gives me a piece of paper And a kiss
On the plane Her racing through my mind I open the paper Her photo, no more, no less
As the plane takes off So do I Not sorry that it is no more Thankful that it was
