Array ( [sid] => 185719 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Are You Okay? [time] => 2018-12-30 01:37:12 [hometext] => To a special friend of mine who sadly passed away the Sunday before Christmas Eve. Good timing old chap! [bodytext] => I will never forget what you have done for us,
Put aside the problems and the wrong thoughts from the past.
I knew what you wanted, that wasn/'/t my fault or yours,
We had our moments, like everyone does.
I wont forget those times, how you provided when we were in need,
I wont go back on my word what I said to you as you tried hard to open your eyes.

You didn/'/t need to force yourself, in your dying moments to meet my expectations,
It was me that was selfish, I should have visited you sooner,
I hope my words comforted you, I hope you believed when I said not to worry about your sons future.
It will not be easy my old friend, I have changes to make myself, not just in life but deep inside.
I hope you can guide me, I hope you can correct me if I trip up, not to catch me but to guide the fall.

I dreamt earlier after another strained and stress filled day,
A day where your final papers were presented in an official way,
To prove that you are no longer a part of this world,
To prove that your journey has ended and the rest of ours has just begun.
I came home and went to sleep, the bodies way of forcing rest.
I dreamt of you, the same way you were after you had passed.

You were laying there, on your back with a smile on your face,
I placed my hand on yours and could feel the warmth,
I asked if you were okay and you subtly nodded yes.
I placed my hand on your head and again felt the same familiar warmth,
I repeated the question and you gifted me with the same response.
Something distracted me to my left,
Just the sounds of a dream, my vision returned to you.
You were facing me this time, laying on your back with your head turned towards me,
Your eyes were open, but in soft shadow as to not induce fear, but still a smile was on your face.
I asked again if you were okay and if you were good, you replied with movement the same as you did before.

The final time I turned to look at an unknown noise to my left,
I returned my gaze to look at you,
You were sitting up this time, slightly turned to face and look at me once more.
There was no fear or dread induced by what was happening, just relief in knowing that you had passed good.
Your smile had proven this and your acknowledgement to the same question four times over,
I knew you had passed from this world, I knew you had returned one final time to sooth my pain inside.
I awoke to my daughter looking over me, asking me /'/daddy are you okay?/'/
I replied with a yes and a loving smile, I knew things were going to be just fine after this day.

I thank you my friend, until we meet again. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 114 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Hynth [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

I/'/m so sorry for your loss.
Speaking from experience, it/'/s never easy to lose a friend, but the fond memories you shared are a great comfort when you/'/re sad.
This was a beautiful write.
