Why bother with eyes?
I don’t use them to see.
What is this mouth?
A blathering thing forever off key.
This nose jutting out?
It only smells fear.
These clumsy feet?
They scrape me about in shuffles I hear.
And my brain?
Forever at war with my mind.
Oh, yes, this laboring heart?
Prolonging my blindness one beat at a time.
And these fingers?
Well, they do hold a pen,
but without my consent
they scribble me back to blindness again.

The mechanics of living. I like the conversation you have held here with your extremities. Not unlike a drill instructor might address his troops!
I suspect from this writing that we are not wholly in charge! You have titled this perfectly, and left me thankful that my heart insists on beating while I sleep!
Write it again in 20 years, and see how it changes!
