[hometext] => Age is a tempering force.
[bodytext] => I once thought me made of sturdier stuff;
Iron, even,
though that me has turned to rust.
My muscles could lift the world;
my arrogant thoughts,
but I am common, a speck in the swirl.
My mind, so sharp!, so above,
now humbled, gratefully so,
by the experience of love.
Yes, the decades have taught me well, I trust;
gone, the granite, the iron,
I accept I am a man of dust.

Sad to say I/'/m in that mode myself.
Very well said without being dead obvious. You know
denial still serves us well at times.
I for one can not appreciate the slow decline. However in the Internet age I welcome it because if I was younger I/'/d go bust some heads and end up in jail. God must have a plan. The aches and pains of older age tempers the mind. This hit the spot today Mike. I was thinking the same thing earlier today. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Love it, shows the stages from youth to aged without saying the words. And so true! Thank you for sharing! |

I can relate to this sometimes (I haven/'/t yet reached 40 - just shy of seven months more).
Sometimes we think we can still do the things we did when we were 20 (ha!), but how many of us can?
Great write.

Age rubs away our sharp edges. Our gloss mellows to a soft patina, we learn gratitude, and welcome silence.
Wonderful write! So accurate, and spoken with an accepting heart.
