[hometext] =>
[bodytext] => Mascots make us loyal. They fool and entertain us.
Wall street invented them in hopes it would retain us.
They’re fake and so familiar, it’s hard to realize,
They’re top notch product salesman, blowing smoke into our eyes!
Like Snap, Crackle, Pop Kellog’s cereal that talks!
The white Pillbury Doughboy, a pastry that can walk!
He showed us how to bake, and how he loved to giggle.
Popin Fresh still makes us laugh whenever he is tickled.
He’s friendly, and he’s jolly, and he says “Ho,Ho, Ho”.
But he won’t bring us presents, just the vegetable he grows.
Tony Tiger helped make Kellog’s Frosted Flakes such fun.
He’s been telling us they’re GRRRREAT since 1961.
A Leprechaun sold Lucky Charms and Captain Crunch would be
our favorite cartoon character in 1963.
Pregnant moms craved pickles, so Vlasic naturally,
Chose a stork to sell their pickles internationally!
They danced and sang and had the moves, so grapevine
growers picked the California Raisins schtick in 1986.
With cane, top hat, and monicle, since 1916 when,
Mr. Peanut didn’t speak a word til 2010!
Fritos had Banditos, and Kraft a Kool Aid Man,
who sold us red dyed sugar water til the dye was banned!
The Michelin Man was made of tires, created long before
many other characters (in 1894)!
His name is Uncle Pennybags with top hat and mustache,
bow tie, cane and lots of dough he keeps Monopoly’s cash!
Proctor and Gamble were lucky to create
Mr. Clean, the housewifes dream since 1958.
In tee shirt and an earring, he sure made bald look great.
This Italian plumber with a mustache and white gloves,
is the symbol of Nintendo, it’s Mario we love!
Geico had a Gecko, and they put him to work,
A tiny green insurance guy is Geico’s own expert!
Created by Dan Aykroyd for Ghostbusters, we’re fans
of the non-existent Stay Puff Marshmallow Man!
This rabbit got their cereal, after all he did.
Trix had always told him “Trix is just for kids!”
Kellogs had their Toucan Sam to sell Fruit Loops to us.
And pirate Captain Morgan sells rum with one leg up!
Speedy Alka Seltzer could cure a headache NOW!
And thanks to Elsie, Borden’s milkcomes from “contented cows”.
Duke the dog has tried to sell their secret recipe.
But Bush’s Baked Beans kept it safe since 1993!
If you have a favorite, I haven’t named them all.
Take a look and see how many more you can recall.
The Energizer bunny, who runs on batteries.
The NBC peacock who began color TV!
Charlie Tuna always longed to be Star Kist’s first pick.
While our Mr. Potato Head cannot not resist Lay’s Chips!
Leo Lion growls at us for Metro-Goldwyn Mayer.
Pep Boys Manny, Moe, and Jack make sure that we get there!
Bucky Beaver was Ipana Toothpaste’s biggest find.
Insurance hired a duck who yells “AFLACK” every time.
Remember Alfred Neuman’s face on Mad Magazine?
Betty Crocker and the Gerber Baby joined the scene.
Mrs. Butterworth and Aunt Jemima are the pancake queens!
Chiquita sold bananas, Banditos stole Frito Lays.
And Ronald McDonald sure made hamburgers pay!
This could go on endlessly! Let’s take a break for lunch.
Before you go though, how about a nice Hawaiian Punch?

Another brilliantly informing piece. NO ONE does this as well as you....in fact, I believe you have the patent on this unique facet of the written word. I think it was from the fruity boys that sell undies to the world, yes, from them it/'/s where I heard, the best poet on this site is, wait for it...a girl!
I love your play.
