My country and My poetry

India is my mother of immortal beauty and wisdom
She gave birth to sages, saints and great emperors
Kashmir is a beauty mark on her forehead;
The Himalayan Mountains her crown;
Varanasi forms her nose ring
The Vindhya mountains her girdle
and my state Andhra pradesh her breast jewel.
Ganga, Yamuna, Godaari, Krishna, the rivers
Flow nectar from their breasts
to quench thirst of my people.
She wears green fields and forests
as her beautiful saris.
Great civilizations flourished and breathed
In her heart and sculpture immortal adorned her temples.
Her maids the river goddesses sing soul-stirring music.
Here were built historic cities and monuments of love
Here the Blessed song of Lord Krishna was first heard,
that was sung by sage Vyasa for the benefit of mankind.
Here Lord Buddha taught the path of righteousness,
Love and compassion to conquer the world of pain
Here great poets Vyasa, Valmiki, Kalidasa were born.
Here music, poetry and all fine-arts reached their heights.
Here virtuous women were worshipped as goddesses.
Here the ancient wisdom was stored in four Vedas.
Here the mysteries of nature and universe were taught
In the form of great Puraanas, Upanishads and Tantras.
My country stands for the human values and world peace.
My mind turned into an inundation of her beauty and grace.
And my poems have now bloomed as heavenly flowers.
The winds of my land like winged angels carry my flowers
To all corners of the world to wake up you at dawn.
My friends, rise up and drink the heavenly nectar
Of my poetry from the flower cups offered
by my beautiful thought angels!

It gives a panoramic view in full colour
of your country India.
It has a glorifying tone to it which is fine
If that is the style you prefer to choose as poet. |
