disciple of scars

Contributed by Cancer on Saturday, 21st June 2003 @ 06:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

(dogma smasher
bible basher
i've done it all twice and again
to taste, in thrall
the fruit that falls
from the Tree of Knowledge of Sin)

my razor blade messiah
prophesizing much blood loss
never to be so heartless as to
abandon me for a ***** cross

mapping my past, plotting my destiny
on the constelations of my scars
led to me by night
(revealing my blood-letting birthright)
by nothing so trivial as a ***** star

and as i'm set free
into a cutting frenzy
the walls are violated with my cliched blood
each severed vein, you see
brings nearer my destiny
to obliterate the ungod above

the only passion i have ever known
is to leave behind, this world below
to fly, untethered by caprice or vice
and set my sights and sword on paradise

and when i storm through those rusted gates
and stalk those streets of mold
i'll see not one familiar face, in this place
where christians go (or so they're told)

i yearn to find your god napping
in his throne of wrath and lies
where i will sever his head
in an instant, a god
and a religious reich are dead
and i will leave their collective bodies
for the maggots and flies

standing at the edge of a heaven in flames
my rage still swells, unsated
into brief slumber i will fall,
before resuming my call
to destroy all the things in life i hated

as boredom grows
in murder's repose
i set my sights on bigger game
you pompous fools
your god is not the biggest beast
to blaspheme and to maim

and in the end, i'll be all that's left
'neath or above the weeping stars
i know this is all true, my razor told me so
for, i am the disciple of scars

had to read this a few times to get the full impact. as a bit of an anti-theist myself, this is damn powerful - phrases like 'religious reich' and 'razor blade messiah' are really effective and sum up everything i've always felt. the imagery is great. another fantastic dark write with an element of attack, keep writing, Kate x

damn... this is compelling... i'm sitting here reeling from it's effects... i am a pagan, but am fairly tolerant of most religions... others may want to shot me for this, but i have perceived the christian god in the manner you've described here many times... i now remember that you also write much of cutting... as a poem, it is truly awesome... as a story, it is truly sad... my sister, who lives with me, just cut herself again 2 weeks ago after a year of not, so i am having a difficult time with this issue as of late... thank you for your words... i am listening to them and learning... blessings... michele
