Have You Realized

Contributed by hoping_to_be_me on Monday, 23rd June 2003 @ 01:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

You asked Him for a sign, a symbol
but you say it never came
You waited your whole life for something God given
but you say it never came
So you walked down the road of life
lonely
unaware of the things around you
Like the butterfly that landed on your shoulder
that you thoughtlessly brushed away
Or the note that said, "Don't forget this!"
but you forgot anyway
And you say it never came
Stop sleeping awake
Arise from your worldly life
and notice the wonderful things God has done for us
The cross
is for our sins
The love
is unconditional
The rock
is our refuge
Start using your gifts
but looking a little closer
and slowing things down
You say signs and symbols never come
but have you realized
that you yourself
symbolize God's greatness?

good poem, makes a valuable point aswell. I didnt expect it to be tied to god although that makes it a better poem for me.
