"What do you keep? Is this your center?"
The key to enter the profound
A list of chemicals abound
That let you open up those wounds
And feel the pain while safe and sound
"And here a list of loves long lost"
"It's but a name and yet a ghost"
"One name repeated many times"
"A heart that echoed at one time"
"The holy books are not on top"
That's because my sins have stopped
Because I've been to purgatory
I know there is a greater glory
"I don't think this a saintly past"
"I don't care if you've confessed"
"The list of lives that you have taken"
"He won't forgive, you are forsaken"
Perhaps, but if I'm not mistaken
My soul is now on cosmic time
Forgiveness is his wish divine
I get to keep my valentine
But do not drink of her perfume
It is not made to be consumed
And do not read about the horror
The wrongs we do to one another
And do not bother to confess
Because salvation is not a test
Forgiveness is his wish divine
Commandments he breaks all the time

Interesting. If I'm right, I've experienced this same situation when trying to move closer to someone who just won't let you in. Maybe I'm all washed up. A good read.
